Playground Nexus Status Update!

Playground Nexus is under development as I might have possibly promised devlogs.

So here's the first devlog of many!

  • Added music disabler
  • Added sfr music
  • Added abilities test player
  • Added turret
  • Added angled turret
  • Added Spiked Spinner
  • Added Floating Spike
  • Added Crate
  • Added Catacomb Dirt
  • Added Big and Small Stalactites
  • Added Slow and Fast Discs
  • Added Lives Enabler and Disabler
  • Added Life and Golden Life
  • Added Character Swappers
  • Added Character Swapper Tab
  • Added Objectives Tab
    • Moved Crystal, Rock, Rock IV, Toxic Core, and Zero egg to this category.
  • Updated Crystals to be unique from other collectibles, as they 
  • Fixed music not playing
  • Fixed grappling hook not hitting many objects
  • Fixed blocks and fragile blocks not having randomized visuals
  • Fixed laundry launcher projectile not hitting solid objects
  • Fixed Reaper getting softlocked after attacking
  • Fixed Build Mode not working on left side of screen
  • Fixed Rocks Counter not counting total rocks
  • Deleted old objects buttons

Now that's just a list of stuff that you may not want to read, so here's a look at some of the more interesting additions from this list.

Music Updates

Multiple updates have been made to the music devices.

  • First of all, Music works now. In the Voidborn Finale, Music didn't play at all.
  • Music from Sioux Falls Roulette has been added.
  • Music Disabler has been added to turn off music.

New Obstacles

A bunch of new objects have been added to the Obstacles Tab.

  • Turrets have been added. They turn and fire at the player. Angled Turrets just fire in their current direction.
  • Floating Spikes and Spiked Spinners have been added from The Reaper. Extra ways to make levels harder I guess.
  • Disc Floors. These things caused me pain. The idea was simple: A floor that spins and moves the player with it. A 5 minute addition. It did not take 5 minutes. It took all day. For one object. Hope it's worth it.

Lives System

A new mechanic: The Lives System. Gives players a limited number of deaths before they lose the level.

  • Lives Enabler and Disabler - In the functions tab these enable and disable the Lives System entirely. You start with 3 lives.
  • Lives - Regular and Golden hearts have been added, they add 1 and 3 lives respectively.

Character Swappers

A big mechanic here: The Character Swapper.

  • It's one object, but it's kinda major. It allows you to switch the player type currently being used. This means you can have a Top-Down level and swap to a platformer. Or just change what platformer type or something like that.

Objectives Update

Lastly, but not least, some updates to the Objectives Tab. 

  • Crystals from You're Doomed have special functionality now, they end the game if all are collected.
  • All objects that end the game + rock have been put into the Objectives Tab.
  • This gives players 3 different ways to end their level: Collecting all Crystals, Collecting Toxic Core, or getting to the Zero Egg.


When will these updates be in a playable form? I dunno, when I make another game with this game.
